WHO WE ARE...
Academic Advocacy & Consulting is a non-profit organization founded for the sole purpose of helping parents, guardians and students ages 3 - 22 interpret the public education system in the North Central portion of Connecticut, better known as Hartford County. Our team of dedicated advocates and volunteers have, collectively, provided over 40 years of service working in the community of Hartford and its surrounding towns as youth advocates, mentors, social workers, case managers, operations managers and executives.
We advocate differently in that we take a tiered approach towards providing full advocacy support with guided control as we coach and teach how to, effectively, correspond with educators, interpret the educational system and, eventually, advocate on your own.
HOW WE ADVOCATE...
Academic Advocacy & Consulting provides non-legal, general and special education advocacy support in tiers by way of a consult to determine the appropriate fit for services, family needs, formal intake and tier placement.
- Tier 1 - Advocacy support in general or special education meetings only.
- Tier 2 - Advocacy support for students requiring behavior interventions.
- Tier 3 - Advocacy support for students who have 504 accommodations or special education preventions and supports in place. This tier provides more in-depth support in meetings, document interpretation, paperwork filings, etc.
HOW DID WE GET HERE...
Advocacy is powerful when done the right way and the right way is through empowerment, teaching, coaching, interpretation, knowledge, and respect.
Therefore, when we saw the need to connect with families and teach them how to show up in institutions of education to help support their children, we didn't hesitate to do so.

Academic Advocacy & Consulting's mission is advocacy through building bridges of understanding between families and educators within the public-school sector of Hartford County. We lead with trust, integrity, and the awareness that all children are to be afforded equal educational opportunities tailored to suit their needs and that all parents are to be acknowledged, included, and respected as part of their child's academic team.
